The Youth Athletes and Single Parent Foundation, Inc. (YASP), a Las Vegas based non-profit organization, held it’s first ever youth sports camp at the City of Las Vegas, All American Sports Park. The camp mostly focused on training and conditioning while using the popular Nike Sparq training methods and the special methods of master trainer, Travelle Gaines. Gaines first spent three years as a division one strength, speed and conditioning coach most recently at LSU. During that time he worked with football, men's and women's basketball, track and field, soccer and baseball. He has trained and currently trains several NFL athletes from first round picks Marshawn Lynch, Jamarcus Russell and Craig Davis to Pro Bowlers Marcus Trufant, Willie Parker and Lawyer Milloy. Gains has also trained several NBA athletes including 2008 NBA all star and 2007 Rookie of the year Brandon Roy.

Program overview

The goal of the foundation is to prepare students for higher education and help them in the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Our primary program is the YASP Youth Camp. These camps include mentoring, training the proper techniques, nutritional sampling and information, scouting, and recruiting services designed to give our student athletes a pathway into college. Professional athletes from various sports are committed to our events. Meeting role models and their trainers on the field will provide motivation for program participants and set expectations for how hard one has to work to be successful.

An addition service provided by YASP targets single parents - focusing on those with children and special needs like Autism. YASP understands the unique challenges this group encounters. The Foundation provides programs to help parents become more financially independent. Specific services include testing, treatment, and support for children with these special needs. Additionally, we assist single parents with job placement, affordable housing, and education tools to better themselves and family.
